Solar installation across the Sacramento region
Thirty-six cities and towns across six counties — each with its own utility, its own permitting authority and its own typical roof.
Why the city page matters
The Sacramento region is unusual: it is split between a community-owned utility, an investor-owned utility and two city-run municipal utilities, and they credit exported solar power in materially different ways. A quote that assumes the wrong one is wrong from the first line. Each page below states the utility, the permitting authority and the roof types we most often see.
SMUD
Sacramento County — a community-owned utility with its own solar rate structure, separate from the state’s investor-owned utilities.
PG&E
Placer, El Dorado, Yolo and Solano county communities — under California’s net billing tariff, where storage changes the maths.
Roseville Electric
The City of Roseville runs its own municipal utility with locally set interconnection rules and export credits.
Lodi Electric
Lodi likewise operates a municipal utility. Neither SMUD nor PG&E terms apply there.

Not on the list?
We cover more of the Sacramento Valley and Sierra foothills than we have built pages for. Call (916) 414-8393 and we will tell you honestly whether we can reach you — and if we cannot, we will say so rather than waste your time.
See what solar would actually cost on your roof.
Every quote is built from your real roof, your real shade and your real power bill — not a guess from a call centre. It is free, and there is no obligation to move forward.
