How to read an installation photograph
Installation quality is visible if you know what you are looking at. Here is what we check on our own work — and what you should check on anyone’s.
Straight, even rows
Panels should be aligned to each other and to the roof edge, with consistent gaps. Crooked rows usually mean rushed layout, and rushed layout usually means rushed flashing.
Conduit that is planned
Runs should be short, straight and wherever possible out of street view. Long meandering conduit on a front elevation is a sign the electrical route was an afterthought.
Sensible setbacks
Fire code requires clear access pathways on most roofs. An array crowded right to the ridge may look more impressive but can fail inspection — or worse, pass and leave no access.
